Fu'an lies in the middle of Ningde City, with three sides
surrounded by hills and the seawaters 67.44km2.Fu'an County was set up in
1245 AD in the Southern Song Dynasty. In November 1989,it was promoted to
a city at county level and it has jurisdiction over 11 towns, 7 villages
and 3 neighborhood offices. The population of this city is 597,000 and the
land and sea traffic is very convenient and fast, with No.104 State Road
and Xiaopu Road running through. The Saiqi Harbor (or Baima Harbor) always
enjoys the name of "the Golden Passage". Fu'an abounds in
mountainous and marine resources, and the storage of hydropower resources
reaches 341,000kw.It has built 44 hydropower stations, which have a total
capacity of 62,000 KW. There are important mineral resources such as
molybdenum, silver, pyrophyllite, granite, diabase, kaolin, silt and peat.
Fu'an is also one of the tea areas in China and it is famous for her
"Tanyang Gongfu Black Tea". It is the production base of the
tea-seed oil and bamboos, and the tea-oil trees are named "the green
oil bank". The traditional yielding of Furong plums, mushrooms,
paulownia oil and bamboos come to the top list in Fujian Province. There
are aquatic products such as clams, blood clams, eel fly, Chinese villous
crabs, prawns and yellow croakers. The industry has a certain scale, with
the well-known electrical machinery and appliance production and one of
the 3 national private shipbuilding plants.
