Shouning County

  Shouning, lies in the north of Ningde, has a total land area of 1425km2.It has jurisdiction over 4 towns and 10 villages and a population of 250,000.Shouning County was set up in Min Dynasty in 1455.Feng Men long, a well-known writer of popular literature and dramatist, was once the magistrate of this county. There is a highway from Shouning to Fu'an, and from Shouning to Taishun in Zhejiang province. Plantation is the mainstay in agriculture. There are special agricultural products such as flowershape-like mushrooms, tea, potatoes, Chinese Yang Taos, tea-oil trees, mushrooms and so on. It is called "the town of flowershape-like mushrooms". There are also mineral resources such as pyrophyllite, quartz, alum, magnetite, granite, graphite, kaolinite and so on. Industries of metallurgy, food, light textile and chemistry are beginning to take shape. More than 20 products, such as flowershape-like mushrooms, tea, magnesia, silicon, lens, carved stones, wood carving, bamboo carving and root carving, are famous all over the world .The wine "Feng Menlong" has won several international gold awards. The green tea "the phoenix's tongue" got a gold medal in the 99 International Tea Culture Fair in Macao. Jasmine tea was awarded 3 gold medals during the appraisal of tea at the international tea fair.
