Industries

  In Ningde, the industrial development frame has been formed, that is, the  coordinated growth of light and heavy industries, with  electromechanical and food industries as the economic pillar and the chemical industry, medicine, building materials and shipping as the priority.  ST series of single-phase alternators manufactured by Mingdong Electrical Machinery Factory, and  “Tianshan Yinhao" Jasmine tea, produced in Ningde Tea Plant were granted national gold medals.  The electrical machinery products are on sale in Europe, America, Africa and Southeast Asia. The building material industry mainly of basalt, the shipping industry mainly of ship repair and ship breaking, the metallurgical industry mainly of ferroalloy, the chemical industry mainly of the Joint Chemical Plant of Fuzhou-Nanping and the medical industry mainly of Lijiexun, Mingdong and Gutian County suddenly come to the fore and have advantages in resources, technology and markets in the whole province.

Electromechanical Industry

   There are mainly electrical machinery and equipment, three-lane fittings, medical keep-fit appliances and electronic products. Electrical machinery and equipment industry, taking Fu’an City’s electrical machinery as an example, is the backbone of Mindong industry, which had already enjoyed a high reputation both at home and abroad in 1970s. Mindong electrical machinery has been granted the national gold medals for several times and Fu’an city has gained the reputation of “Electrical Machinery City of China". Since the reform in 1978, a new prospect for nationalized, collective and private enterprises to mutually develop has appeared. There are more than 600 electrical machinery enterprises with a staff of 35,000. The annual output value amounted to 4 billion yuan in the year 2000,taking up 18% of the total industrial output value in Ningde City. A production system of exporting electrical machinery has been formed. There are 13 enterprises, which have been listed as “ Electrical Machinery Exporting Base Enterprises". The series of electrical machinery products produced by Mindong Dali Electrical Machinery Corporation and Fu’an Anbo Appliance Corporation, the series of water pump products made in Fujian Wanda Electrical Machinery Corporation, the series of generators produced by Mindong Defeng Electrical Machinery Corporation, and the automobile starters made in Fujian Jiahua Electrical Machinery Corporation and the pressure regulators of liquefied gas produced by Fuding Dongding Group are advanced in science and technology and play a leading part in the market. The products also enjoy high reputation among the users and sell well in more than 40 countries and districts in Europe, America, Southeast Asia, Africa and Middle East. Dehua carburetors produced by Fujian Hualong Carburetor Co. LTD has come up to advanced world standard and covered 70% of the domestic market. The medical keep-fit appliances produced by Dongfangshen Electronic Corporation as a representative have been playing a leading part in Fujian province.

Food Processing

It is the traditional industry in Mindong, which takes up a major proportion in all industries. In the latest years, new technique and formula have been adopted to improve it and remarkable achievements have been made. The products such as tea, fruit and vegetables, aquatic products, alcoholic drinks, edible fungi and flavoring, etc are not only sold in China but in the world. Among them the most famous products are series of jasmine teas made in Mindong with “Tianshan Yinhao" tea as a key product. The series of mushrooms in Gutian County, the flower-shape mushroom in Shouning County and the summer mushroom in Pinan County, the yellow croakers in Sandu Bay and the series of aquatic products in Xiapu County are the most famous.

Chemical and Medical Industries

 There are now more than 50 chemical and medical enterprises available and there are 50 types of products which can be roughly divided into eight categories such as fertilizer, mineral salt, organic chemical industry products, petrochemicals, dye, chemical products, and organizations of chemical engineering, etc. Rongping Chemical Plant has become China's largest production base of potassium chlorate and atlacide. Further more, many products sell well both at home and abroad such as the combined cellular chemical material from Ningde Bailianhua company, the cement lacquer of  Junjie Ceremics Corporation, the food addictives from Mindong Ruicai Corporation, the fertilizers from Fu’an Fertilizer Plant, the graphite from Pinan Changhua Petrified Corporation and the activated carbon from Mindong Lianyi Group Company.

 

Medical Industry

The medical industry, with Ningde Lijiexun and Gutian Medicine Corporation and Gutian Antibiotics Corporation as key enterprises, is another new industry in Ningde. Several kinds of medicine made in Mindong Lijiexun Corporation are recognized as the patented products in China. Gutian Medical Corporation is the largest injection production base in Fujian province and Gutian Antibiotics Corporation is the main production enterprise of material for antibiotics in Fujian province.

Metallurgical and Shipping Industry

Mindong is rich in waterpower resources, so it enjoys exceptional advantages to develop the project of “electricity and iron". Products such as magnesium and silicon, hollow zirconium oxide, electric melting aluminum, high-purity silicon carbide produced by Fujian Sangxiang Metalurgical Corporation and the series of silicon products produced by Pinan Iron Alloy Plant, Zhouning Iron Alloy Plant and Mindong Fulun Metallurgical Corporation, etc. are very advanced in science and technology and steady in quality and are exempted from examination while being exported to Japan. Shipping industry is the traditional industry in Mindong and is gathered along the  Saijiang Riverside in Fu’an City. In the latest years, with the improvement and introduction of new technology and technique, this traditional industry advances in development by leaps and bounds and 10,000-ton steamships can be constructed.

 

Stone Industry

  Granite is the kind of mineral resource that has the most advantage among nonmetallic ore. The proved reserves reach 1,140 million cubic meters and deposits amount to several thousand million cubic meters. There are great varieties such as granites, diorite, basalt, etc. Among them there are basalts in Bailin, Fuding named “Fudinghei"; granite stones in Hetang, Gutian named “Tiaohuahong" and "Zimahei" in Pingnan are up to the first national standard natural rough stones.  The mining area in Bailing, Fuding extends for 0.21 square kilometers and the total deposits amount to 50 million cubic meters. It wins the praise as “hometown of basalt" and becomes one of the bases of the national rough stone exporting bases. The  “Fudinghei" has been put on the list of the first 83 Chinese rough stones of famous brands.
