 Naltural Environment:
Fuzhou Economic and Technological
Development Zone located in Mawei,the estuary of Min
River of Fujian Province. Situated at the longitude 119°37¹ east,latitude
25°59´ north, Mawei is the
gateway of Fuzhou (the capital of Fujian Province) to the
sea. Mawei enjoys a subtropical marine climate,leading
wind direction is northeast wind, and an average annual
rainfall of 1382.3mm. Mawei is free from frost for 326
days per annual,average annual temperature is 19.3°C,
and humidlty 81%.
Resources
of Talents and Lahourers:
There
are more than 100 scientific research institutes, 23
colleges and universities,as well as 360 polytechnic
schools, vocational middle schools and high schools in
Fuzhou,Every year, more than 8,000 students graduate from
local colleges and universities, in addition to a large
number of graduates from technical schools and various
training classes.With more than 60,000 technicians and
engineers, Fuzhou is rich in qualified labour
resources.Besides,there are more than 20 high
schoolsŁ¬vocational middle schools,technical schools and
polytechnic schools in Mawei.
Transportation:
 Highway:There is a
highway links Mawei to downtown.No.104 State Highway
passes through the Zone. The expressway between Fuzhou
and Xiamen is under construction.
Railway:
The
railway of Fuzhou and Mawei extends to all parts of the
country. The railway between Fuzhou and Wengzhou, is in
the period of preparation for construction, and will
stretch from Mawei to Zhejiang Province.
Aviation:
The distance between Fuzhou airport and Mawei is about
20km. There have been opened 23 domestic and
international air routes in Fuzhou Airport, with 191
flights per week. The Changle International Airport of
Fuzhou, is separated from Mawei only by a narrow strip of
river. With an design scale of 45 million passengers
handling capacity annual, it is expected to be finished
in 3 years.A gaint stayed
cable bridge will be built to connect the airport with Mawei.
 Port:
Mawei Port has a long history. A new port has been built
since 1988. Up to now ,there are 9 wharves of 10,000
tonnage level (including 2 ports specially used for
container, one international passenger transport port), 2
wharves of 5,000 tonnage level in Mawei. And it has
opened sea routes to more than 30 countries and regions
including Japan, Philippine, Singapore and Hongkong.
Telecommunications:
Mawei
is the first district to have realized automation of
long-distance call. A program-controlled telephone mother
station, which has a capacity of 10,000 ways, has been
built now. It's convenient to dial directly to major
cities and regions in home and abroad. Users can apply
for mobilephone and radio pager service too. The postal
center has developed the express mail service in the
country and abroad.
Water
Supply:
Mawei
situated in the lower reaches of Min River. It's rich in
fresh water resource. A water works with daily supplying
capacity of 100,000 tons has been built ( The second
phase of the extension engineering project is the period
of preparation). It can meet the demands or residents and
industrial use.
Electricity
Supply:
The
Huaneng Thermal Power Plant installed with capacity of
1.4 million kw faces the Development Zone across the
river. The Sino-Foreign Joint Power Plant installed with
capacity of 100,000 kw is under construction. There are
three central power transmmiting station in the Zone,and
have total capacity of 426,000 KVA.
Service
Facilities:
There
are two hotels and three middle or high-class restaurants
in the Zone. A series of stores, office buildings have
been built. More than thirty various financial
organizations have been set up, most of them have foreign
exchange handling service.
